About the Dwarka, Somnath and Nageshwar
The Saurashtra coast holds some of the most important shrines in western India: Dwarka, Krishna's city and one of the Char Dham; Bet Dwarka, an island reached by boat; Nageshwar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, near Dwarka; and Somnath, the first of the Jyotirlingas, rebuilt many times through history.
The circuit fits comfortably into four or five days, often combined with Porbandar (Gandhi's birthplace) on the way.
The usual route
- Dwarka — Dwarkadhish temple and the Gomti ghat
- Bet Dwarka — by boat from Okha
- Nageshwar Jyotirlinga
- Somnath — temple and the evening sound-and-light show by the sea
Routes vary by operator and starting city. Opening dates, timings and rules change — confirm with the temple or the official portal before you travel.
