About the Kashi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj
Three of the holiest places of the Gangetic plain lie within a few hours of one another: Kashi (Varanasi), the city of Shiva on the Ganga; Ayodhya, the birthplace of Shri Rama, with the new Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir; and Prayagraj, where the Ganga, Yamuna and the unseen Saraswati meet at the Triveni Sangam.
A week is enough for an unhurried visit to all three. Many families also perform rites for ancestors here — at Kashi's ghats and at the Sangam.
The usual route
- Varanasi — Kashi Vishwanath, Sankat Mochan, the ghats and the evening Ganga Aarti
- Prayagraj — a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam
- Ayodhya — Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, Hanuman Garhi and the Saryu ghats
Routes vary by operator and starting city. Opening dates, timings and rules change — confirm with the temple or the official portal before you travel.

When to go
October–March is the best weather. Dev Deepawali in Kashi (Kartik Purnima), Deepotsav in Ayodhya (Diwali) and Magh Mela at Prayagraj (January–February) are the great festival times.
Practical tips
- Kashi Vishwanath and Ram Mandir both have bag and phone rules — check the current rules and use the lockers provided.
- A boat ride on the Ganga at dawn is a quiet way to see Kashi's ghats.
- Magh Mela and Kumbh years bring very large crowds to Prayagraj; book early.
